Opening game of the season!

First up, we have a game against the depleted Meralco Bolts.

Meralco Bolts vs. Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters

Keys to the Game:

1.) Take Care of the Ball – Meralco forced the most turnovers out of their opponents — almost 17.5% of the time. It is up to the guards to keep the ball on their side of the court and still have the offense flowing. As I said, discipline will be important. Alapag will play a huge role in this.

2.) Keep an eye on  Mac Cardona – Cardona is a talented scorer — he registered an ORTG of 103.44. He can score from different spots of the floor and when he drives, he can launch his patented teardrops and hook shots. Fonacier and Reyes will have their hands full with this guy but if you keep him out of the game, you give yourself a good chance to win.

3.) Attack the Paint – Outside of their import and Jay-R Reyes, they have no interior presence. If there’s a team that’s weak at the paint, it’s Meralco. They gave up a lot of FTs (26.7% Defensive Free Throw Rate), they allowed an above average Offensive Rebounding Rate (30.29%) and they can’t defend well (gave up an eFG% of 47.01% — 3rd worst last conference). Castro is going to have a party here.
