The time is now. The NU Bulldogs will try to hang on the very tight race to the Final Four as they face the very dangerous De La Salle Green Archers. This battle will feature two teams that are fighting for the last semifinal slot after they both loss their last outing against Ateneo and Adamson respectively.
It’s been almost two months since these two supposed to be championship contenders met. During their first round meeting, blue chip recruit Andrei Caracut impressed with his feel of the game. The rookie out of San Beda Red Cubs did not feel any rookie jitters as he poured 13 markers. It is noticeable that Coach Juno Sauler trusted this guy after he logged a game high 32 minutes.
On the other side, veteran play maker Gelo Alolino led his team with 18 points. His 33.4% usage rate proved to be the evidence that he’s the go to guy and the source of their offense by either making plays for his team or scoring in bunches.
For NU to stand any chance against DLSU, they must limit the production of Jeron Teng. The Bulldogs must disrupt his vastly improved play making ability which is vital in the offensive set of the Green Archers.
Another thing is that NU MUST force their opponent to shoot more threes. We all know that this La Salle team really struggled when the opposing side started to implement the 2-3 zone defense. They’re converting a dismal 21.7% shooting from the three point region, dead last in terms of the entire league.
The reigning champs have already established in their mind that they can turn things out heading into this crucial game. Meanwhile, La Salle’s foundation in this season has been rotted by their end game collapse. They could have been easily bot in this tight situation if only they had composure during those close games.
