The DLSU Green Archers should not be doubting themselves despite their shocking loss to Adamson last Saturday. Instead, they should use that game to be their rallying point going into their matchup against the NU Bulldogs. The Green Archers are currently in fourth place with 5-5 record while the Bulldogs are outside looking in with 4-7. Both teams have not really gotten things going in the second round as they tallied only one win apiece.

While the Green Archers are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Bulldogs, the third spot seems to be slipping away from them with Ateneo managing to pull off a string of victories. This game could be a rallying point for both teams with what is at stake. For DLSU, they can strengthen their hold on the fourth spot; while for NU, it can bring them closer for the last spot and a chance to defend their title.

NU and DLSU opened their  UAAP seasons facing against each other, with the latter winning against the reigning champions, 67-63. The Green Archers raced off to a fast start, but the Bulldogs rallied behind a huge fourth quarter before Jeron Teng hit crucial baskets to preserve the win. The Green Archers were able to hold the Bulldogs to just 33.8% eFG during the game. They also allowed NU to just an offensive rating of 82 points per 100. What killed the Green Archers though was their turnovers especially in the fourth quarter, as they registered a 19.8 TOV%. The Green Archers were able to contain big man Alfred Aroga in their first encounter. He was limited to only nine points and 10 rebounds. But they should be wary of him in their upcoming encounter as he will look to bounce back from a subpar first round game.

The first game was supposed to showcase two of the better teams of the leagues this season. As we near the end of the eliminations, both teams have yet to find any consistency this season. While the Green Archers have been able to get their points, they have been a mystery on the defensive end. Also, they have not found their shot from the outside. The irony of their nickname being “Archers” (sorry, a colleague had to remind it to me recently). As for the Bulldogs, they have been one of the better defensive teams this season but they have not found any offensive consistency from guys not named Aroga and Alolino.

While both teams have been inconsistent throughout the season, their characters will be tested as both teams still have a lot at stake. This game is a make-or-break for the two teams.
