Perfect 4-0. That’s how smooth Purefoods’ conference is going so far, their best start yet in the Tim Cone era. In their next game, they’ll have a chance to keep this hot start alive and win their fifth straight game, against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

It’s been a great run of four games for the Hotshots but one things that has to be considered are the type of opponents they’ve faced so far. They’ve beaten Alaska, NLEX, and Blackwater, three teams at the bottom of the league, considering offensive and defensive ranking. The only other team they’ve faced and beaten that belongs to the top half of the league is Globalport. In this game, they’ll be facing an elite squad in Rain or Shine; this will truly test what Purefoods is made of this conference.

This game will mark Daniel Orton’s second game in the PBA and it’s expected that he’ll be rudely welcomed by the Elasto Painters’ front line led by Beau Belga. Expect to see a lot of hard fouls in this game as Rain or Shine will try their very best to contain the wide-bodied yet agile Orton inside the shaded lane.

For Purefoods to secure this win, they must be able to continue to move the ball around effectively as they are 2nd in the league in terms of assist (60.7 AST%). Interestingly, Rain or Shine’s number 1 in this category with a 61.2 AST%. Also, aside from ball movement, both teams are on top in terms of getting to the foul line (PFS 2nd 25.2% FTR and ROS 3rd 25.3% FTR). But the Hotshots have a slight advantage on this one as they only allow their opponents a league-best 13.8 FTR.

It will be expected that Rain or Shine will be led by their import, Rick Jackson in terms of scoring. But if the locals of the Elasto Painters would be able to hit their stride (Lee, Chan, etc.), it would mean trouble for the Hotshots and their four-game winning streak could possibly be broken in this game.
