After a big win against the NLEX Road Warriors in their last game, the Purefoods Star Hotshots (2-3) now faces an acid test against the only winless team in the conference in Blackwater Elite (0-6). Purefoods are looking to ride the momentum they’ve built in their last game anchored on solid defense, crisp passing, and torrid shooting. On the other hand, Blackwater Elite, an expansion team composed of a mix of new guys and tested veterans (out to prove themselves they still belong in the big league) have been searching for that elusive first win this conference. Will that W finally come in this game against the Hotshots?

Some would say that Blackwater is due for a win but numbers speak otherwise. In this game, they are up against a team coming from their finest game this conference in Purefoods. In that game, the Hotshots clobbered the Road Warriors inside the shaded lane, 50-34. Against a team that is manned in the paint by the likes of Erram, Faundo, Ballesteros, and Rodriguez, Marc Pingris and the rest of Purefoods’ frontline can use their size, length, and experience to their advantage.

In this game, Purefoods can count on defense as their main weapon once more. Currently third in the league (PFS 101.0 DRTG) when it comes to defense, it can be said that the Hotshots will be up for another dominating performance against the last team in the league when it comes to offense (BWE 80.4 ORTG) and in turnovers (BWE 18.3% TOV) as well.

If the numbers won’t lie (and most of the time they don’t. haha!) and barring a break-out game from one or two players from Blackwater, this would be an easy one for Purefoods. They get their 2nd win in a row to move up further the team standings, 3-3.
