The DLSU Green Archers look to strengthen their grip on their Final Four slot as they face the Adamson Soaring Falcons. Playing in their first game in more than a week, they are hoping to shake off the rust and continue their mastery over Adamson. Despite having only one win in their name this season, the Soaring Falcons can be as dangerous as any team this season. They’ve had their share of heartbreaks, including a controversial overtime loss in their last game against NU. At this point of the season, while the Green Archers are looking to secure a spot in the top four, Adamson (virtually out of Final Four contention) will be looking to be the spoiler to their opponents the rest of the season.

In their first round encounter, the Green Archers cruised to a 88-71 victory. They dominated the first half with a 47-26 lead, but Adamson slowly crawled back cutting the lead to single digits late in the game before the Green Archers held them off for a 17-point victory. For DLSU a key to that victory was their defense as they limited  Adamson to 32.7 eFG%. On the other hand, their offense was impressive as they shot an efficient 54.2 eFG% which led to an outstanding 98.6 ORTG. Leading in that game was Jeron Teng who had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Thomas Torres chipped in 16 points. The Green Archers though were having trouble containing big man Papi Sarr who had a monster game of 18 points and 16 rebounds.

This matchup will be very crucial for the Green Archers simply because they just cannot screw anything up since they haven’t locked up anything yet. For La Salle to win this game, they need to play smart and aggressive basketball. They need to play good defense, especially if their outside shots fail them (fingers crossed). Like how they had played in their previous win, they need to play as a team and not just rely on Jeron Teng to be on “Tank Mode”. Adamson’s 1-9 record does not indicate anything to how they’ve been playing this season, and the Green Archers by now knows that they can’t afford to slip at this critical stretch of the season.
