The De La Salle Green Archers‘ skid couldn’t have come at a worse time, with the Final Four fast approaching and their chances of entering are still hanging on the balance. Up next for them will be against their rivals the Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles who have been on a hot streak, winning their last four assignments. This game will definitely be important for La Salle mainly because of its implication on their Final Four chances and it is always extra sweet to beat your archrivals.

In their first encounter in Season 78, the Green Archers probably played their most impressive game of the season, coming back from a 15-point deficit to stun the Blue Eagles with an 80-76 win. DLSU were able to limit Kiefer Ravena to just 7/24 field goal shooting. They were able to amass 28.8% of their own misses as compared to Ateneo’s 17.5%, which gave them more chances on the offense. They were also able to get help for Jeron Teng in this game, with Perkins, Torres, Rivero and Torralba combining for 47 points. Another key was their strong second half, outscoring the Blue Eagles 44-30 in the final 20 minutes.

The last Ateneo-La Salle game has been a distant memory for both teams. Since that match, Ateneo has won four of their last five games while the Green Archers have been on the opposite trail, losing three of their last four. The Green Archers have been down in their past few games with their troubles in knocking down the outside shots and their endgame executions. With them haven’t played for more than a week, it may help them figure out among themselves what has been wrong, especially in their last two losses. For the Blue Eagles, it will be a chance for them to inch closer for a chance at that elusive twice-to-beat advantage. A great rivalry game like this makes it more interesting when there are a lot at stake for both teams, and a win would be twice sweeter for either side.
