A win is just a win, but it becomes sweeter and more special if it is your first after four tries and if it comes at the expense of a then undefeated team in UST Growling Tigers. Slowly, the defending champs NU Bulldogs (1-3) are starting to get into rhythm. Hopefully, they continue their winning ways as they face the feisty Adamson Falcons (0-4) in a battle between the two cellar dwellers of the league.
Thanks to Alfred Aroga‘s fadeaway shot late in the game, the reigning champs finally tasted their first victory after four outings. Their defensive toughness was pretty much evident in this game as they held the Growling Tigers to just 55 points. The win didn’t come easy for NU; trailed 48-41 with few minutes left in the game, they unleashed a 10-2 run capped off by the Cameroonian game-winner.
On the other hand, Falcons hopes to finally barge into the win column at the end of this battle. Adamson suffered a lopsided defeat against the DLSU Green Archers in their last assignment. The dynamic duo of JD Tungcab and Papi Sarr will be heavily relied on once again for the Falcons to soar this time. Sarr, who registered a double double with 18 markers and 16 caroms, should provide the interior presence especially against Aroga. Even with the roster compose of rookies and sophomores, a glimpse of hope for this team is definitely seen from them.
The Bulldogs must capitalize on the inexperience of this squad. Gelo Alolino, once again, should lead his team to seize the winning streak and improve their current standing in the very tough Final Four race.
