The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters are all set for Game 4 of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday, April 22. ROS currently holds the advantage, two games to one, and are looking to further get ahead of the once invincible TNT.

Talk ‘N Text has allowed ROS to score 114 points per 100 possessions in the past three games (124 in the last two). They need to lower that down to be able to even the series. The Painters are making good use of all their scoring opportunities, pouncing TNT both from the inside and out, aided by their commitment to share the ball (assist rate of 63.6 percent vs. 45.3).

Rain or Shine’s longer rotation and more impressive bench production (average of 41 points vs. 14) also helped them execute their game plan better. One moment it’s Jireh Ibanes stepping up; another, it’s Chris Tiu or Jericho Cruz providing quality minutes. The unpredictability of their lineup has given TNT a headache. Wayne Chism, Paul Lee, and Gabe Norwood have led the way on both ends of the court, with ample support from the rest of the team.

ROS has figured out a way to contain Talk ‘N Text and disrupt their offense. They may not be able to stop Jayson Castro (and Ranidel de Ocampo to some extent) one on one, but their collective effort on defense has been working so far. Meanwhile, TNT needs to make a lot of adjustments to limit the Painters and slow them down – Chism, most especially – entering this crucial match.

We’re in for another exciting, physical battle peppered with mind games and drama on and off the court. Who do you think will win?
